4 Crosses Inn

The 4 Crosses Inn is a coaching inn located on the well known A5 in Cannock, it has a history of not just paranormal activity but tragic stories. Drenched in stories of the paranormal and unexplained phenomena, this location is considered as one of the most haunted locations in the list of ghostly filled locations.

Paranormal phenomena & Unexplained happenings at the 4 Crosses Inn:

• Glasses smashing 
• Apparitions of a young girl
• Unexplained footsteps
• Poltergeist activity 
• Sightings of a man standing in long dark cloak standing in the carpark on a rainy night. 
• Apparition of a round head solider
  

The building dates back to 1636 when it was built from old shipping timbers which now are almost 1000 years old. The building has been restored over the years to keep it standing and to keep it safe. The left side of the building is a later addition to the building, dating from around 1700. But this doesn’t take away its mysteries hauntings and the souls that wonder in and around this 17th century coaching inn.

The peak point of the Four Crosses Inn was believed to be in 18th century, when people used to travel on Watling Street from their journey from London to Ireland. The Four Crosses Inn was the main important stopping point for people travelling on the journey on the famous A5. 

What did the Four Crosses Inn offer back then?

The Four Crosses Inn, used to offer dinning, and drinks, helping people who were traveling from far to have a break and provided overnight accommodation. 

What did we encounter on our visit and investigation? 

The Unexplained Mysteries Paranormal Team visited The 4 Crosses in June 2025, here's there account. We entered the supposed haunted 17th century Inn, we didn't feel an ounce of negative energy. We began our investigation in the carpeted room at the front of the building, conducting an energy circle. During this session, we encountered taps, bangs and very faint moaning as well as curtains moving on their own, without any explanation. We then conducted a rem pod session in the same room, with all of us spread out to the sides of the room and the rem pod in the middle of the room, yet again without a valid reason the rem pod went off multiple times, we all moved into one corner of the room to debunk this phenomena and yet again the rem pod was going off like mad. 

We then moved our investigation to the foyer/the old bar area of the Inn, we conducted a calling out session trying to get physical evidence of the paranormal phenomena at this location.
